Superintendent’s Corner: Dr. Enos Shares His Thoughts

It’s an exciting time to be part of Gunter ISD!

October is National Principals Month, and I want to take a moment to recognize our incredible campus leaders. Each of our principals plays a vital role in supporting teachers, guiding students, and keeping our schools running smoothly every single day. Their dedication, vision, and commitment make a tremendous difference in the success of our district. Please join me in thanking them for all they do for Gunter ISD.

Across our campuses, there is so much positive energy and growth. Our students are deeply engaged in learning, supported by teachers who continue to provide top-notch instruction every day. Beyond the classroom, our student-athletes are competing almost daily, our theatre students are performing Hadestown, the band is preparing for UIL competition, and our art students have already designed this year’s GISD Christmas cards, a wonderful new tradition that showcases their creativity.

We’re also launching the Gunter Ambassador Academy, an opportunity for parents, business leaders, and community members to learn more about our schools and become partners in sharing the Gunter story. Sign-ups are limited to a maximum of 20 participants and are open now through November 1st, register and learn more here.

This year, our district focus is on building relationships. It takes all of us, staff, parents, and students, working together to make Gunter ISD the very best it can be. I’m also excited to share that we’ve begun developing a new five-year strategic plan, created in collaboration with parents, teachers, students, and community members. This plan, expected to be released in April 2026, will help guide our district’s decisions and ensure that the Gunter ISD we’re building reflects the values, expectations, and hopes of our community.

Thank you for your continued support, positivity, and partnership. Together, we’re making Gunter ISD stronger every day.

Dr. Brandon Enos
Superintendent and Lead Learner

Opportunities to Support the GHS Cheerleaders

Elementary School

Our youngest Tigers began the new school year in a brand-new school building, and it’s absolutely beautiful! With bright, welcoming classrooms and creative learning spaces, our youngest learners have the perfect place to grow, explore, and shine.

Our students love using the new flex spaces for learning! These areas give them room to think, explore, and work together in creative and meaningful ways.

The new library is a popular destination on campus, where students love exploring shelves and discovering their next favorite book.

Learning in Action!

Learning is an adventure at GES! Our students are exploring, discovering, and having fun while growing their minds every day.

Grandfriends + Great Reads = A Perfect Day!

Our littlest Tigers had a grand time! We hosted a Book Fair and invited our Grandfriends to enjoy lunch and shop for stories together. It was a day full of books, laughter, and love!

Elementary Classroom Snapshots

Our Pre-K students aren’t just “playing kitchen”, they’re building real-world skills through imaginative play! From cooking and sharing pretend meals to using new vocabulary and working together, these playful moments help them grow in creativity, communication, and cooperation proving that at Gunter Elementary, play is powerful learning!

Kindergarten students practiced sorting letters, words, and sentences. Each selected a card to place in the correct category, then practiced what they learned with their own apple sorting activity. Smart work, little learners!

Our first graders explored author’s purpose using mentor texts like How to Make Apple Pie and See the World!. Their curiosity (and sweet cravings!) led them to use math and science skills to persuade teachers to bake apple pies together. A perfect blend of reading, writing, and hands-on learning!

Second grade students became critical thinkers and writers, analyzing examples and discovering what it takes to make their writing more powerful and effective

Third graders began enjoyed a unit with the mentor text Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun, connecting with Lucy’s courage to be different. Students celebrated individuality and wrapped up their learning by enjoying their own spaghetti in a hot dog bun!

Using Oreos and M&Ms, third graders practiced division turning math into a delicious hands-on experience. They shared, grouped, and divided their treats while conquering new skills, snacks and learning included!

4th graders rolled up their sleeves and dove into metric conversions. Using think boards to solve multi-step problems, they showed focus, teamwork, and lots of math brainpower!

Our 5th grade scientists explored the properties of matter in our brand-new science lab! Students conducted hands-on experiments, observing, measuring, and discovering how matter behaves.

Congratulations to Kason Lindsey!

Kason was honored at a recent GHS football game as one of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Unsung Hero Award recipients.

Diagnosed with a heart condition at just five years old, Kason had a pacemaker installed and was unable to play the sport he loved, football, for nearly a decade. After a ten-year wait, his doctors finally gave him the green light to take the field this year, fulfilling a lifelong dream.

A huge thank-you to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football for recognizing inspiring student-athletes like Kason. His story is a powerful reminder to never give up; keep asking, keep pushing, and never stop believing in what’s possible.
