| Superintendent’s Corner: Dr. Enos Shares His Thoughts
A Fantastic February is in the Books! Hi there, Tiger Nation! February has been an incredibly productive and inspiring month, and I am so grateful for the continued support, energy, and collaboration from all of you. We have made some fantastic strides toward our shared goals this month! Here are a few highlights of what we have accomplished recently:
*PK-12 Math Framework Completed: We have officially finalized our new Math Framework! This is a vital step forward that will beautifully align our math curriculum across all grade levels, ensuring a seamless learning experience for our students and bridging any gaps created by past curricula developed in isolation.
*Moving Forward with Great Expectations: I am thrilled to officially recommend the adoption of the Great Expectations (GE) program for our district. GE is a phenomenal initiative that champions strong character education while also setting clear expectations for high-quality instructional delivery in every classroom. I look forward to sharing more with you in the upcoming months.
*2026-2028 Academic Calendars Adopted: Our school board has officially adopted the academic calendars for both the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years, which are now available online! Both calendars were carefully developed to be true four-day school week calendars. By passing these multi-year schedules, our school board is proudly demonstrating its steadfast commitment to our three-year, four-day school week pilot program.
Looking Ahead: Over the next two months, we will be crossing the finish line on developing our new 5-Year Strategic Plan. For the past five months, more than 115 community members, students, and staff have worked collaboratively to develop this essential roadmap. It is truly a community-built vision for our district's future success, and the momentum we are building together is extraordinary.
Thank you for making this district such a wonderful place to learn and grow. Our future is incredibly bright! Dr. Brandon Enos |

Science Sparks Curiosity at GMS |
Mrs. Morrison's 6th grade science students got hands-on, using Oreos to model Earth’s layers, investigating how Earth’s tilt shapes the seasons, and discovering how the moon’s gravity drives tides.
6th graders continued their hands-on learning by building models of Earth’s layers. Students used materials to represent each layer’s state of matter and got creative by incorporating food items into their models. Their designs were thoughtful, collaboration was strong, and the classroom buzzed with excitement as groups worked together to complete their projects. |
Coach Mac’s 7th grade science classes have been creating imaginative models to demonstrate how the excretory system filters waste from our bloodstream.
Take a moment to listen as three different groups explain their designs and how the system works! |
Ms. King’s 8th grade students participated in a cell organelle scavenger hunt around the school, connecting each organelle’s function to similar roles throughout the building. This hands-on activity helped them see how the parts of a cell work together just like the parts of our school. |
Mrs. Nichols used the winter ice and snow to enhance her STEM lesson. Her students made glass/ice marbles and left them to freeze outside. With the cold weather lasting longer than expected, their marbles continued to freeze for an entire week! |
Mrs. Bullard’s STEM students put their learning into action by designing and building water filters after studying how they work. This hands-on activity helped students understand filtration concepts while developing problem-solving and engineering skills. |
Learning How the Brain Works |
6th grade Discovery students in Mrs. Grayard's class got hands-on creating 3D models of the human brain, exploring how its major structures work together. By shaping and labeling each part, they deepened their understanding of how the brain controls movement, emotions, memory, and vital functions. |

Celebrating 100 Days at GMS |
The Gunter Middle School Student Council created a fun and creative way to celebrate the 100th Day of School by placing 100 “Mrs. Claunches” throughout the building for students to find and redeem for prizes. Students loved the challenge and had a great time participating in the celebration. |
